WWT in collaboration with Shooting Stars Foundation is organising Women Only Hackathon on August 3, 2024. This hackathon challenges participants to build AI/ML solutions that prioritize sustainability by being energy-efficient, reducing waste and emissions, optimizing resource usage, and having a low environmental impact overall. Solutions should aim to support sustainable practices across various domains like energy, agriculture, urban planning, and manufacturing.
Additionally, participants can focus on developing ethical AI systems that are inclusive, fair, and unbiased. Solutions should ensure privacy, security, interpretability, and human oversight over AI decisions that impact people's lives. Ethical principles like accountability, transparency, and respect for human rights must be embedded into the AI development and deployment processes. Through this hackathon, we aspire to shape the future of AI as a powerful force for good that harmonizes technological progress with environmental sustainability and ethical, human-centric values
What to Build
Conceive and prototype innovative AI applications, tools, frameworks or products across one or multiple domains/industries
Participants can choose to focus on sustainability or ethical AI or combine both. They should focus on demonstrating sustainability as a core design principle through energy-efficiency, waste reduction, resource optimization, and low environmental impact or embedding ethical responsibility into the solutions, ensuring fairness, privacy, security, interpretability, and human oversight over consequential AI decisions
Identify a specific real-world problem domain (e.g. energy, agriculture, healthcare etc.) and build an applied AI use case to showcase sustainable and ethical AI approaches in practice
