Metaverse Masters, a Microsoft-sponsored hackathon in collaboration with HACKMASTERS, will be hosted at the world's biggest coding and development networking event, Global DevSlam, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
It is time to use new technologies to re-imagine a more sustainable world for future generations. The metaverse brings a whole new paradigm shift for how we think about sustainability. The Metaverse Masters hackathon challenges developers to reinvent the future world we speak of, using Microsoft Azure and metaverse technologies. The top 200 developers will hack and reveal futuristic concepts that define: sustainability solutions. How do we make new planet friendly solutions to re-invent and enhance the following sectors: tourism, food and smart cities by reducing carbon footprints and improving quality of life.
If you haven't already, sign up to Metaverse Masters by completing the typeform linked here.
Challenge 1 - Tourism
How to redefine the tourist experience of visiting Dubai by maximising visitor enjoyment while minimising carbon footprint?
Challenge 2 - Food
How to minimise food waste by giving people contextual insight into the nutritional value and the carbon footprint of the food they are about to buy?
Challenge 3 - Virtual spaces
How to redefine the virtual spaces for new ways of human interaction in ways that minimise the carbon footprint of energy, mobility and education?
You must disclose your teams here, on Devpost, by 6pm GST Saturday 8th Oct.
Or bear the consequences...
HACKDAY 11th October
At GlobalDevSlam, in Dubai World Trade Centre, you'll present your ideas!
If you are creating a HoloLens solution, please bear in mind that only top HoloLens ideas, submitted by 10th Oct, will receive the opportunity to hack with the HoloLens.
For your project to qualify for the hackathon, it must incorporate the most recent publicly-available version of one of these tools:
MRTK for development with Unity
The Mixed Reality Toolkit for Unity is a Microsoft-maintained, Microsoft-driven, open-source project that provides a wide variety of UX building blocks for mixed reality development including the following:
Projects should use MRTK 2.7+. This will give you the option of a lighter-weight solution by letting you to select only the components of the toolkit that you need. New theming and databinding features, powerful new interaction systems, and an updated design language will make it even easier to update your app’s look and add polish. Plus, native OpenXR support makes it even easier to target HoloLens, Oculus Quest, Windows Mixed Reality, and future OpenXR devices.
StereoKit for development with C#
StereoKit is a code-first, open-source library for building mixed reality experiences using C# and OpenXR. It addresses some of the most common and challenging aspects of MR development including UI, inputs, interactions, physics, shaders/material systems, working with text, asset loading, and much more. You may be surprised at just how much you can accomplish in MR with just a single line of code! Projects using StereoKit can be viewed on HoloLens 2, desktop, or any VR device with the OpenXR runtime (e.g. Oculus Quest, Windows Mixed Reality, etc.).
