The i-DEMO European Tourism Gamification Hackathon 2026 is an online, international and multidisciplinary event taking place from Friday, November 27th, to Sunday, November 29th, 2026, bringing together participants from across Europe to work on real challenges connected to tourism destinations.
The Hackathon will involve 8 participating destinations and aims to engage at least 40 participants in the co-creation of innovative, game-based tourism initiatives. Working in international and multidisciplinary teams, participants will explore how game design, tourism, cultural heritage, communication and technology can come together to create engaging, sustainable and innovative visitor experiences.
Who can apply? The call is open to adults with a background in at least one of the following areas:
• Game design and gamification
• Digital development/technology
• Tourism and destination management
• Marketing and communication
• Sustainability and cultural heritage.
University students, tourism professionals, game designers, developers, destination managers, tour guides, startups, cultural operators and tourism SMEs are all welcome.
