Feb 22nd 2024: kickoff 5:30PM-8PM Thursday, keynotes, prompt release, team forming session right after. Hybrid. 

Feb 23rd 2024: 5:30PM-7:30PM In-person Online technical support session

Feb 23rd - 26th: On-demand support sessions with Tech members

Feb 26th: 12PM Submission

March 4th: Winner announcement + Ceremony at 5:30pm-7PM In Person and online.

Background

As part of the Google's Solution challenge, UVic’s Google Developer Student is holding a hackathon on digital accessibility and on the 4th UN sustainability and development goal for quality education for everyone.

Prompt: Provide a solution to support and enhance the educational experience for people with various learning differences or disabilities.

Important note: You are encouraged to specify which learning differences or disability you are building for.

SDG #4 Quality Education

Drawing upon your technical skills and personal experiences, design a software product or service that is accessible and accommodating to individuals with diverse learning needs and abilities. Consider how your solution can support and enhance the educational experience for people with various learning differences or physical disabilities. Potential user groups you might design for include, but are not limited to:



  • Individuals who are blind or have low vision




  • Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing




  • Individuals with colour vision deficiency




  • Individuals with dyslexia



Your goal is to create an inclusive solution that empowers all learners, recognizing and valuing the diversity of their experiences and needs.
