Location: In-person

  1. Fun Hackathon Weekend returns!

  2. Friday August 2, 2024 through Sunday August 4. Full schedule below.

  3. This event is FREE for participants and open to the public. (With a suggested donation of $25-$50 to help us cover costs of food and prizes)

  4. Pitch ideas, form your own teams, build some software in one weekend, compete for prizes.

  5. Last year the theme was "Make the world a better place" so all of the projects were judged on that theme. This year's theme will be "Entrepreneurship & Tech Startups".

  6. Hackathons are a great way to grow your software engineering skills and experience. It's also a great way to meet other people in tech.

  7. We are looking for additional sponsors, volunteers, co-hosts, mentors, and judges. Contact me! Do not hesitate for any reason, we want YOU to get involved! Reach out to people you know that you think could help.

  8. We want volunteers to help us pickup food for the event, we want volunteers to spread the word about the event, we want mentors to help the participants, we want judges to judge the demos. We want sponsors to demo their product.

  9. Please help me spread the word about this event by sharing it with people you think would be interested.

  10. We will buy some food for the participants and volunteers. Such as fruit for breakfast, pizza for dinner, and something for lunch.

  11. Each team submitting a project must be between 6 to 8 people. This is an experiment we are trying this year. If you can't find a team of 6-8 people, we will try to help you find more people. I'm hoping it will be more fun this way because you'll meet more people.

  12. Participants on a team must attend the event IN PERSON for at least one day of the event.

  13. On Friday and Saturday you will have a chance to pitch ideas for projects.

  14. You'll be asked to form teams on your own. Although we can try to help you form a team.

  15. On Sunday all of the teams will demo their project and be judged. Presentations will be recorded on video and possibly live-streamed.

  16. It was a huge success last year and a lot of fun. So don't miss it!

  17. Please be very respectful and courteous to everyone while attending. Be on your best behavior.

  18. Please be very respectful of the space. We are lucky to have this space available to us. Please help us keep it clean and clean up afterwards.

  19. Only Hacker Dojo Members are allowed to stay at the Hacker Dojo past 9pm. No one, not even members, is allowed to sleep over at the Dojo.

  20. Your project ideas and your project must be appropriate and in good taste. If you're not sure, ask.

  21. Participants must be 14 or older.

  22. Don't worry if you are very beginner or not very skilled at coding. There will always be ways you can contribute to any team.

  23. Judging rubric will be something like: 50 points for technical impressiveness, 50 points for business and presentation impressiveness
