Calling all DZ innovators, developers and SMEs to join us on May 7th -13th, 2020 for a unique online hackathon event. Code For Algeria is your opportunity to contribute solutions that can help address some of the pressing challenges related to the Covid19 epidemic in Algeria.
The winning teams will receive support in implementing and scaling their initiatives in Algeria. We have developed a roaster of partners who are committed to bring your ideas to life. In addition, this hackathon offers an incredible opportunity to meet likeminded people, get feedback from global experts and an opportunity to support in tangible ways and have a social impact during one of the worst crisis our country has witnessed in recent history.
Challenges
We’re suggesting you pick on one of the below six themes to help spark your ideas and focus your energy:
- Raise awareness How might we help the Algerian people access reliable information, understand and follow the necessary health guidelines.
Health system: how might we engage and scale in new health initiatives and support health workers on the frontlines.
- Support the most vulnerables. How can we support individuals and families who are affected the most by this epidemic notably the elderly, homeless people, etc.
- Support small businesses: how might we help micro and small businesses stay afloat and bring part of their businesses online. How might we help employees and freelancers adapt to home office
Promote learning & entertainment : how might we develop alternative learning solutions as well as entertainment that can keep individuals and families safe and healthy. Including

How it works
- Register today and get your slack invitation today
- Join the Kick-off session on May 7th at 21:00 Algiers time to connect with the other participants and form teams
- Take time to develop your idea and connect with our mentors throughout the hackathon
- At the end of the hackathon, submit your project information and a short 2-min video to present your results.
- After the hackathon, a panel of stellar jury will review your projects and select one winner per challenge category
- On May 17th an online award ceremony will be help and the winners will be announced!
- Week of May 17th Winning teams will have an internal meeting with the orga team to draft a plan of implementation
